So even after that opening paragraph you might still be wondering, what is domaining? So let me explain a bit more.

You have most likely heard of a Domain Name, but you might not understand some of the commonly used terminology used when discussing them. You know .Com, .Net, .Org – sure! Did you know that was called a TLD or Top-Level Domain? Probably not.

Well there are lots of different TLDs outside of .Com, .Net, and .Org, like .de which is the most popular extension in Germany, or .fr which is king in France. There are also TLDs like .info, .travel, and .biz. TLDs that are specific to a given country are called a ccTLD, which stands for Country Code Top-Level Domain.

Domainers, or Domain Investors oftentimes speculate on what price they could re-sell a domain name to an end-user or fellow investor. They will then try to do what all investors try to do, buy low and sell high. Other Domainers buy domain names that exactly match keywords they want to rank well for and build-out content sites with ways to monetize the traffic. These Domainers rely on ranking well in search engines to get their traffic.

2. Buy An Existing Profitable Website – one option that often gets overlooked is buying a website that someone else has developed and made profitable. Make some improvements to the site and keep adding fresh content and back-links and you have a head-start to building a successful online business.
3. Start Domaining - Domaining is the process of buying domain names for the purpose of monetization or resale. This is a growing industry and an easy place for beginners to get started with a very small initial investment (often under $20).
